David Habershon Hamilton Blelloch (b. 1896 at New Southgate, Middlesex) was educated at Exeter School and St John's College, Oxford. A conscientious objector, despite being willing but unfit to join up in 1914, he refused conscription in 1916 and served instead with the Friends' Ambulance Unit until 1919.
